  • Black elicits a sophisticated, stable, and secure emotional response.
  • White has two main effects: clarity and simplicity.
  • Yellow is the color of hope, warmth, and friendliness.

Using the Default Customize Option to Change Colors

Before we show you how to use the Customize option to change colors, it’s important to note that these options are dependent on the theme you’re using.

Step 1

To begin, navigate to Appearance >> Customize.

Step 2

Select the Colors & Dark Mode tab once you’ve arrived.

Step 3

A select Color is an option that allows you to change the background color of your site. It is the option you should select.

Step 4

It will open the color panel to add your custom color or choose from a palette of options. If you prefer the latter option, click anywhere on the palette or drag the small circle around until you find the color that best suits your needs.

Step 5

Next to the palette is a section where you can choose whether you want to go with a lighter or darker color shade. Drag the slider up or down to accomplish this.

Step 6

Once you’re happy with your selection, click Select Color again.

Step 7

If you want to use a light color for your site’s background, you can also use the Dark Mode support option. This option allows a site visitor to view your site in dark mode if they prefer. Select the “Dark mode support” option to see your site with a dark background and light text.

Step 8

You can also use the Dark Mode: Off button to preview your dark scheme (located in the bottom right corner of the screen). This action activates the Dark mode:

Step 9

After you’ve finished customizing your colors, click the Publish button to finish the process.

Step 10

Finally, click the x button in the top left corner of the Customize screen to return to the user dashboard.
